Abstract

Post Irradiation Pelvic Sarcoma 8 Years after Treatment for Adenocarcinoma for Prostate: About a Case

Lai-Tiong F, Michalet M, Ruyer A, Ripoche J, Van-Hulst S and Houede N

Radiotherapy for prostate cancer can be associated with the development of second cancer, primely carcinoma and exceptionally sarcomas. We report a case of post irradiation pelvic sarcoma height years after external beam radiotherapy for localized T1c prostate adenocarcinoma. Eight years after the radiotherapy he showed a radio-induced high grade sarcoma. Although the use of external beam radiation therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer has been common practice for decades and despite such cases being regarded as extremely rare, post-irradiation sarcoma should be considered as a potential cause of pelvic pain developing after radiotherapy.
