It involves a series of phases that test the safety and efficacy of the drug in humans, as well as its potential side effects. The first phase of clinical drug development is typically done on a small group of healthy volunteers to determine the safety and dosage of the drug. This is followed by phase II, which involves a larger group of people with the condition the drug is intended to treat, to test its efficacy and optimal dosage
