Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing Spondylitis is a form of spinal arthritis, chiefly affecting young males, that eventually causes ankylosis of vertebral and sacroiliac joints. It mainly affects joints in the spine and the sacroiliac joint in the pelvis. In severe cases, complete fusion and rigidity of the spine may occur. The signs and symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis often appear gradually, with peak onset being between 20 and 30 years of age.
