Rare case of proliferating tichilemmal cyst /tumor PTT in the scalp of patient 70 years old

Abstract:

Background:This tumor rise from the outer sheath of hair follicle.90% occur in the scalp and its more common in females’ older than 50 years and usually is solitary. Our case is a male patient aged above 70 years and with multiples lesions, five nodules since more than 20 years. Patient is Saudi and he was wearing head cover which is the cause of neglecting the treatment.

Materials & Methods: 70 years old male patient with multiples lesion of the scalp was presented to consultation. These lesion were developed at about 10 to 15 years back.Very important observation to mention, as these lesions are very embarrassing in social life if he goes outside. Here we must mention that this man living in Saudi Arabia where men wearing this flora covering the entire scalp called (shemag with black ring around) so he can go outside without any one can observe any abnormality of the features. Surgical excision was done under general anesthesia.

Results: Proliferating tichilemmal cyst (pilar tumor) was completely exercised and the margin was free.

Conclusion: We are glad to present here a rare case of proliferating tichilemmal cyst /tumor in a male patient while these lesion are more common among female. Our case had also multiple lesions in contraire to most of these lesions which is only solitary nodule. Over all the long stay and tolerance of this lesion long years because simply he was not disturbed in social life, as he was helped by the customs of the society which he lives.
